| The Artist in Residence program has been established as a cooperative program between Roswell Art Center West and the Artist. Over a twelve-month period, this Residency will encourage experimentation and development of the Artist’s work in order to propel their educational, academic, and/or professional career. |

Our 7000 square-foot facility ranks amongst the best facilities in the area and is well equipped with some of the most favorable equipment in contemporary ceramics. The studio features separate wheel and handbuilding studios, two glaze rooms, two electric kiln rooms, an outside kiln-yard, resident artist studios, and a gallery.
The studios are furnished with state-of-the-art equipment that include:
4 - 1227 Skutt electric kilns
1 - 5’ Olympic front loading electric kiln
1 - 52 cubic foot gas kiln
1 - 12 cubic foot gas kiln
1 - 25 cubic foot soda kiln (natural gas)
2 - Raku kiln (natural gas)
1 - Olympic electric test kiln
2- Northstar slab rollers
2- Extruders
10- Brent CXC Wheels
2- Shimpo VL Whispers Wheels
8- Creative Industies MP Wheels
1- Spray Booth
Upon acceptance into the residency program, you will receive a personal work space, 24-hour access to the facility, participation in workshops on a space-available basis, firing of your work, and periodic critiques. Residents will also have the opportunity to have an exhibition at Roswell Art Center West Gallery to display and promote the body of work completed during their residency. Roswell Art Center West will not supply resident housing, clay, equipment for private use, tools, or personal glaze materials. There are some firing fees for exclusive kiln use.

Responsibilities |

In exchange for what Roswell Art Center West provides, residents must perform at least 8-10 hours per week working in the studio at regularly scheduled times. Being responsible for work hours will be critical, and residents will be expected to work hard during their studio hours to fulfill their studio obligations. There are also special events from time to time, including shows, lectures, and workshops, which may require additional hours.
Qualified Candidates should be capable of working independently and be willing to participate in group interactions, critiques, and other experiences available at Roswell Art Center West. They must also be willing to work hard at routine studio cleaning and maintenance, mixing and developing glazes, loading and unloading kilns, assisting students, and other various studio jobs, including gallery and office duties. We are looking for artists that are willing to commit to a one year contract. |
