Virtual Classes

Virtual classes are a great option to stay creative with hectic schedules and safety concerns. Our new virtual classes are conducted live with our instructors using Zoom. So all you need is some clay, a webcam and you are good to go.

Who is it for?

Intermediate to advanced hand builders and potters that want to work from home. Perfect for those that want to social distance during the current COVID-19 pandemic, but still want a little interaction and great, expert guidance and projects from our instructors.

 

What is included

  • Expert instruction weekly from our talented teachers - weekly 1.5 hours classes for 8 weeks

  • 25 pounds of clay to be picked up prior to your first class, additional clay can be purchased for $25 per bag

  • Bisque firing of your work with an estimated 2-week turnaround time

  • Bisque fired works will be stored safely at ACW until pick up

For a separate fee, 2-hour glazing sessions can be scheduled. Limit of 2 people per glaze session to help ensure safety.

How does it work?

  1. Dial in via Zoom weekly for a 1.5-hour class with your instructor and fellow students

  2. Clay work will be completed inside and outside of class, in the convenience of your home

  3. Greenware drop off will be scheduled with ACW supervisor

  4. Clay works will be bisque fired based on schedule of classes and workload – typical turn around will be approximately 2 weeks if work is ready to be fired upon delivery. 

  5. Bisque fired works will be stored safely at ACW until pick up

  6. Glazing will be scheduled individually in 2-hour blocks for a separate fee.

Handbuilding Functional Work
Instructor: Barb Wolf


This course is a great way to continue to explore handbuilding with clay from home. While learning new techniques and refining ceramics skills, each participant will create three functional objects with real time guidance. Slab and coils will be the main assembly methods to create sculptural and functional works including a mug, a jar, and a bottle. The final class will focus on final refining ideas and surface design.

All Levels Wheel
Instructor: Brandon Lipe


This class will help you move beyond basic techniques of throwing on the wheel. Each week your instructor will demonstrate new forms while you work along from home. This session Brandon will be demonstrating altered mugs, plates with stamped and inlaid surfaces, bowls with slip decoration, and lidded jars. This course is designed for participants with some previous wheel experience.


*Optional Wheel Rental: $100/month plus deposit and rental agreement
